The Tordera Delta, located in the southern Costa Brava, Catalonia, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">constitutes a social-ecological system that suffers from intense anthropization mainly due to <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">tourist pressures on the coast. The massive tourism of \u201csun and beach\u201d, although it brought <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">human well-being and economic development to the region, has caused a heavy urbanization of <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">the coastline that altered the coastal dynamics, eroded its beaches and degraded many <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">ecosystem services, something that is aggravated today by the climate change events in terms of <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">rising sea level as well as the magnitude of the storms (&#8220;llevantades&#8221;), typical of the Western <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">Mediterranean coast.
