L\u2019importance th\u00e9ologique des plantes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The terrestrial biosphere is a green world: it is thanks to plants that current biodiversity has been able to evolve, including the human species. We depend on plants because they are our midwives, our nurses, our inspirers and our comforters. Contemporary philosophy begins to take into account this inversion of the usual hierarchy: instead of the vegetative, the lower layer of life and of the soul, we now think of the plant as a cosmogonic force. This new vision represents a promising challenge for theology. Rereading Genesis 1 reveals the phytocentrism of this key text, the &#8216;sustentatio terrae&#8217; of plants, more fundamental than the &#8216;dominium terrae&#8217; of humans. Both the parables of the Kingdom and the Eucharistic meal (purely vegetal) speak of the eschatological dignity of plants.
