On March 27th took place, on the headquarters of Aig\u00fcestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, in Bo\u00ed, Catalonia, Spain, a Seminar on common uses and pastoralism, <\/b>organized by Fundaci\u00f3 del M\u00f3n Rural and Institut per al Desenvolupament i la Promoci\u00f3 de l\u2019Alt Pirineu i Aran (IDAPA).<\/p>\n
The aim of the conference was to discuss and debate on socioeconomic benefits of common rangelands for villages that have traditionally been its beneficiaries. Most of Catalonian extensive livestock still grazes in common grasslands; therefore, it\u2019s necessary to adapt the reality of these commons to the necessities of nowadays. The seminar discussed the current status of the commons rangelands, its evolution over time, and how management would have to adapt to current challenges, considering that the management of many of these commons is still based on ancient legal systems.<\/p>\n
The result of the seminar was collected in two documents (both in Catalan). \u00a0The long version \u00a0includes the conclusions of the seminar with the conclusions from two other previous related activities: A \u201cSeminar about commons<\/i>\u201d, celebrated in Sort (Catalonian Pyrenees, Spain) on 2002 and a \u201cStudy about commons on Alt Pirineu and Aran region, 2008<\/i>\u201d promoted by IDAPA. The short version only contains the conclusions of conference on Bo\u00ed: \u201cThe commons: an approximation from extensive livestock<\/i>\u201d.<\/p>\n
