Oren Lyon (Jo Ag Quis Hi in onondaga language) is a spiritual leader onondaga, one of the tribes of the Iroquois confederacy. He served in the army and in 1958 he graduated from Syracuse University (New York, USA). In 1970 he returned to the indigenous reserve as a leader and since then he has been one of the greatest lawyers in the iroques cause. In 1982 he took part in Geneva in the UN Commission on the Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and established a Working Group of Indigenous Peoples. In 1990 he was mediating in the crisis between the Mohawk Iroquois tribe with the Canadian and Qu\u00e9bec governments. He is a firm defender of the environment.
