Regarding World Health Day: One Health & Integral Health
Catalonia7 April 2021
On April 7, the World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World Health Day. In the midst of the global health crisis we have been experiencing for more than a year, the Silene association wants to add its modest voice to reiterate the urgency of embracing the principles of Integral Health (physical, mental and spiritual) and One Health, with all the consequences. Only by accepting that human health goes beyond the physical and mental levels, both in its personal and social dimension; and only stopping self-destructive tendencies, prioritizing prevention, regenerating a healthy environment, air, water and food without pollutants, healthy towns and cities, free from the many forms of pollution they suffer today, our societies can aspire to live healthily.
Silene has supported, from the outset, the Intersectoral Health and Nature Table (Taula intersectorial salut i natura), promoted by the Xarxa de Conservació de la Natura, which arose from the Declaration on the interdependence between health and nature in Catalonia, adopted on January 30, 2019.
To contribute to a deep and serene reflection on the health crisis in which we find ourselves immersed, since March 2020, we have been compiling relevant documents, published in any of the four languages on our website, grouped into three perspectives: Nature (life and health sciences), Culture (philosophy and ethics) and Spirituality (whether religious or not). By clicking here you will be redirected to said documents, which we will try to update while this crisis lasts.
