Sacred Mountains of the World

The book has two main parts. Part I includes chapters about sacred mountains around the world: The Himalayas, China, central Asia, Japan, South and Southeast Asia, The Middle East, Europe, Africa, North America, Latin America and Oceania.  Part II includes chapters devoted to the symbolism of Sacred Mountains, Mountains and the Sacred in Literature and Art, the Spiritual Dimensions of Mountaineering, and Mountains, Wilderness and Everyday Life. Next there is a section with a number of interesting notes, followed by a selected bibliography. The appealing text is accompanied by a large number of beautiful colour pictures, most of them by the author.
