Hard science, it turns out, is ultimately destructive of scientist myth. The scientific entrerprise is self-corrective. (…) The ontological discoveries derive in fact from negative results: the boundaries which the science in question can not cross. (…) [they] have disavowed the very promises that gave rise, first to modernist enlightement, and two centuries later, by way of reaction, to postmodernist skepticism.
