Ecología integral en San Juan de la Cruz: la raíz cósmica, evolutiva y antropológica del ser humano
This work proposes to rescue the figure of Saint John of the Cross and the proposal of an integral ecological spirituality. His voice has gone unnoticed by the “green thought” of recent decades, which saw in the Canticle of the Creatures by Francis of Assisi the Western Christian culmination on these issues. First, some specific features are presented that distinguish Brother John of the Cross from other Christian contemplative authors. Second, his position with respect to Creation and creatures is highlighted, as a constant relationship of love and dialogue. Finally, Brother John of the Cross is positioned in “green thought” as a theocentric author. Respect for non-human nature is a consequence or supervening effect of the desire for union with God. The soul knows its creatures in the love of God because the Beloved is present the mountains, the rivers or the whistle of the air.
