La Montagne et sa symbolique1996
In the mystery of eternity, the experience of a bliss, even a passing one, extends to all human beings: those of the past, the present and the future.
Is the wonder communicable? When it results from a singular experience, it seems almost impossible to share it. That’s why it remains secret. However, wonder colors the existence.
Fascination presupposes at once the awakening of the inner gaze and also of the hearing. A state of vacancy, that is to say rest, promotes joy. The apprehension of beauty can be done slowly or in an immediate way. Availability is required. (…) Solitude appears necessary for certain temperaments. The collective delight may be superadded, to come from a contagion. The wonder invades the being in its totality. Nothing sentimental. The emotion felt produces a thrill and a change of level. So the wonder makes rise, orients to a summit. When it is no longer tested, traces of its passage remain, such as the burning of the sun. Burn that it is impossible to locate. Man becomes a flame: he glows, catches fire; here he has become incandescent.
